Call 9-1-1 if you see electrical equipment on fire, smoking, or sparking.
Never try to extinguish an electrical fire with water – you could be electrocuted.
Remember, only Class C fire extinguishers are rated to fight electrical fires.
Check your electrical cords often. Replace cracked, damaged electrical cords. Don’t try to repair them.
Don’t overload extension cords or wall outlets.
Never use extension cords with major appliances – they can overheat and start a fire. Plug them directly into wall outlets.
