Resources and Support for Customers with Access and Functional Needs

We offer resources and support to serve the diverse needs of our customers during Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) outages.

PSPS Support

Accessible Hazard Alert System

SCE’s Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) website offers PSPS notifications and preparedness information in accessible formats for people who are Blind, Low Vision, Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, or Deaf-Blind.

Receive Alerts About PSPS Outages

In the event of a Public Safety Power Shutoff, we will keep you informed through early warning notifications, when possible, before turning off the power. Please make sure your contact information in your online account is up to date to ensure we can reach you during outages, and please choose whether you would like to receive these notifications via phone calls, text alerts or emails.

Community Assistance Programs and Referrals

If you need additional assistance before, during, and after a PSPS outage, 2-1-1 offers free, confidential services to SCE customers that connect you to community assistance, emergency preparedness, food pantry, or meal delivery programs, as well as to transportation, public assistance, and other services. 2-1-1 is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Reach 2-1-1 at 211.orgopens in new window  , or by calling 2-1-1 or texting “PSPS” to 211211.

Self-Certification

If you have not yet signed up for SCE’s Medical Baseline Allowance program, or you are not eligible but someone in your household has a condition that can be significantly affected by the interruption of power during a PSPS outage, or a disconnection for nonpayment of a bill, you can self-certify your account so that SCE is aware and can notify you before turning your power off. Self-certification status is valid for one (1) year.

In the event of a pending PSPS, self-certification ensures that we will attempt to reach you through your preferred method of contact (email, text, or voice call). If we cannot reach you directly through your preferred or alternative methods of contact, we will send a technician to your door to attempt to make in-person contact to deliver the message regarding the disconnection.

Complete Self-Certification
