FAQ Answer

Incomplete NEM 2.0 projects will be automatically cancelled after April 14, 2026, and will not have an opportunity to reapply for NEM 2.0. Customers who miss the deadline may still apply for the interconnection of their renewable generating system though the Solar Billing Plan.

Can I request an extension if I need more time to meet the April 14, 2026 NEM 2.0 program closure deadline?

FAQ Answer

The NEM 2.0 program closed to new applications on April 15, 2023, providing Applicants 3 years to complete the interconnection of their renewable generating system.

At the present time, we are not accepting or granting extensions. We highly recommend submitting final documents well in advance of the April 14, 2026 deadline, to allow adequate time to address/correct potential deficiencies.

Waiting to submit final documents runs the risk of not being able to address potential deficiencies by the April 14, 2026 deadline and will impact the applicant’s ability to remain on NEM 2.0.

As the deadline approaches, extension requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and the requesting party will need to provide evidence that the delay is solely attributable to SCE.

How will the Base Services Charge affect NET Generating customers?

FAQ Answer

The Base Services Charge is a separate line item charge that will be billed on your monthly statements that cannot be offset by the electricity you generate. However, if your account has a remaining Net Surplus Compensation credit or Energy Export Bonus Credits (Solar Billing Plan), the Base Services Charge will be paid with that credit.

NEM 1.0 and NEM 2.0 customers: Please note that because the variable electric rate will decrease, the monthly credit will also decrease. This is because SCE calculates your monthly credit based on your net energy and the current electric rate.
