How do I become a CBP-E aggregator, either for self-aggregation or for other customers?
Print, complete and submit the Aggregator Agreement and Credit Application. We will review your credit history and determine whether you meet the credit requirements or need to provide a deposit to participate. If a deposit is required, we will ask for your expected maximum capacity nomination and inform you of the deposit amount.
After your application is approved and any required deposit is received, your profile will be created in the customer enrollment online system, and you will need to self-register to obtain a user login and password. If desired, you will also be listed as an aggregator on this page.
To enroll your customers (or accounts, if self-aggregating), complete an Aggregator Add Form, which acknowledges customers’ intent to use you as their aggregator. We will notify you when you may begin placing nominations with CBP-E. Submit an Aggregator Remove Form when you want to remove a customer from your portfolio.
What is self-aggregation?
Customers with multiple service accounts may combine their electricity load into a single CBP-E portfolio and participate without using an aggregator. Participants are responsible for managing their accounts and submitting nominations.
Can I change my nominations?
Yes, you can adjust your nomination each month by coordinating with your aggregator during the monthly nomination period.
What incentives does CBP-E offer?
CBP-E provides capacity payments for nominated reductions and energy payments when events are called and energy is reduced; amounts depend on the participant’s aggregator agreement.
- Capacity Payments: Monthly payments for committing to reduce a certain amount of electricity, called nominations, even if no events are called. These are determined by a calculation using the participant’s monthly nomination and the applicable tariff capacity rate in a given month.
- Energy Payments: Payments for when a participant reduces electricity usage during a CBP-E event. Amounts depend on the participant’s nominated capacity, actual load reduction achieved during the event and applicable market prices.
Contact your aggregator for more information on how incentive amounts are determined.
