How SCE Can Help You Get Power for Your Project

The links below show the end-to-end steps to establish new service.

Whether you're upgrading power at an existing location, planning new construction, or installing EV charging infrastructure, SCE is here to help. Requesting or upgrading power can feel complex, but with early planning and support from our experienced teams, you don't have to navigate it alone.

Confirm Location is Within SCE Service Territory

Before getting started, confirm your project address is within the SCE service area:

After confirming your location, review the two-step process below to understand who to contact, what to expect, and what resources are available.

Step 1: Find Out Where Power is Available

Before requesting power, you’ll need to know whether there is enough available capacity at or near your site. Power capacity refers to how much electricity can be delivered through SCE’s distribution system. If additional capacity is needed, upgrades or construction may be required. SCE offers online tools to help you quickly check available capacity, view load forecasts, and evaluate the suitability of your site for distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar or battery storage.

Online Tools
Distribution Resource Plan External Portal (DRPEP)

An interactive portal displaying circuit and substation capacity, with search by-by-address capability and downloadable reports.

Power Site Search Tool (PSST)

An interactive tool for commercial and industrial customers to identify sites with available electric capacity. The tool provides visibility into nearby circuit and substation capacity, broadband fiber access, and commercial site listing information.

Step 1.5: Optional Capacity Study – Engineering Analysis Report

If you need more detailed insight into the capacity available at your site, you may request an Engineering Analysis Report. This customized report provides:

  • An evaluation of available capacity at your specified location
  • Information on whether system upgrades may be required
  • Estimated timelines for potential construction

Fee: $3,000 (paid in advance and non refundable)

Study Timeline: The study typically takes 20–35 business days to complete once SCE has received both your payment and all required project documentation.

This report is for planning purposes only and does not reserve capacity. Load reservations for new load projects are non-transferable and may only be submitted, modified, or canceled by the customer of record at the service address; reservations may be canceled and capacity reallocated if project details change, notice is not provided, or the project does not proceed.

When you're ready to move forward, proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Ready to Request Power? Do You Know How Much Power You Need and When You Need It?

When you’re prepared to submit a power request, you will need to provide an application along with supporting documentation (such as equipment load requirements or Single Line CAD files). This information helps SCE determine the design needed to serve your project.

Begin your request at: www.sce.com/projectrequest
Select your project type to learn what documentation is required and how to submit your application.

Load reservations for new load projects with substantially complete submittals are and may only be submitted, modified, or canceled by the customer of record at the service address; reservations may be canceled and capacity reallocated if project details change, notice is not provided, or the project does not proceed.
