Our Rates Are Changing June 1, 2025

Throughout the year, we submit requests to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to change our rates. These requests must be approved by the CPUC. Changes to our rates may cause your monthly electricity bill to increase or decrease.

Current Average Residential Rate: 31.4 cents per kWh (29.4 cents per kWh w/Climate Credit)
New Average Residential Rate: 31.2 cents per kWh (29.2 cents per kWh w/Climate Credit)

The June 1, 2025, rate decrease is the net result of both increases and decreases to various items collected in electricity rates totaling $388 million:

  • The rate decrease is primarily the result of SCE removing costs from delivery rates that have been fully recovered from customers. In total, we are removing $355 million in costs from rates1.
  • We are implementing $35 million of costs through rates, to recover restoration-related costs associated with the 2017 Thomas Fire. This implementation results in an increase for all customers. The CPUC approved the cost recovery of these costs in a decision issued in January of 2025 (Decision 25-01-042).
  • Finally, every June 1, we adjust transmission rates governed by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) associated with accessing the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) controlled grid. This rate adjustment resulted in a decrease in transmission rates totaling $68 million.

We offer a variety of programs, tools, incentives, and rebates to help you reduce energy usage and manage costs at home and at work. Visit our Home Efficiency Guide for energy-saving tips, and learn more about ways to save.

1SCE is removing from rates costs associated with SCE’s 2021 Wildfire Mitigation and Vegetation Management Application and a one-time wildfire Insurance credit, representing a reduction of $378.957 million and an increase of $24.268 million, respectively.
