Our response to COVID-19
We’ve made some changes due to COVID-19, including suspending service disconnections for residential and small business customers for nonpayment and only continuing critical work needed to protect public safety and reduce the risk of wildfires. If you have recently lost your job, even if you are receiving unemployment benefits, you may qualify for a reduced energy rate through our CARE or FERA programs. Ivanpah-Control Project

Project Overview

The Ivanpah-Control Project will enhance the safety of Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) sub-transmission system, controlled by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). The project is now in the initial planning phase. SCE anticipates filing a project application with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in 2019. If approved by the CPUC, the project is anticipated to begin construction by the end of 2021.

The project will follow CPUC safety standards and include remediation activities such as replacing existing structures with taller structures and increasing conductor (wire) ground clearances. Most of the construction will take place in the existing transmission line rights-of-way to minimize environmental impacts. The estimated project completion date is 2024.
