Correction to SCE Public Participation Hearings (PPHs) Venue Information in Long Beach
You may have previously seen a notice in your bill that Public Participation Hearings (PPHs) were occurring in the 2025 General Rate Case for Southern California Edison (SCE).  This is a proceeding before the California Public Utilities Commission and is referred to by case number A.23-05-010.  The information contained in the notice is correct, except the notice incorrectly stated that the date for the in-person PPHs in Long Beach is March 20, 2024.  The correct date for those in-person PPHs is April 10, 2024.

The corrected information for the in-person PPHs in Long Beach is as follows: 

Date: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 
Time: 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Location: Recreation Park Community Center, 4900 E. 7th St., Long Beach, CA 90804.

Utility Solid Waste Activities Group member utilities, including Southern California Edison, received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency in June 2014 to dispose of polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) remediation waste generated at secure utility assets with as-found PCB concentrations less than 50 parts per million pursuant to 40 CFR 761.61(c). Links below have disposal location information.

The approval allows the disposal of PCB remediation waste with as-found concentrations of <50 ppm PCBs in non-TSCA approval landfill facilities, including municipal solid waste landfills (MSWLFs) as defined by Condition 9 of the approval as stated:

"Under these Approvals, PCB Remediation Wastes with as-found concentrations of <50 ppm PCB may be disposed of in any of the following facilities subject to state and local regulations regarding such disposal:

  • Facilities permitted, licensed, or registered by a state to manage municipal solid waste subject to 40 CFR Part 258
  • Facilities permitted, licensed, or registered by a state to manage non-municipal non-hazardous waste subject to 40 CFR section 257.5-.257.30, as applicable, with the exception of any such unit that manages liquid wastes
  • Hazardous waste landfills permitted by EPA under section 3004 of RCRA, or by a State authorized under section 3006 of RCRA.”
