Charge Port Estimator

Charge Port Estimator

The Charge Port Estimator provides a suggested number of charge ports for potential deployment based on estimated current and near-term EV adoption, the number of charge ports already deployed, and a ratio of EVs per charge port. It’s generally recommended to plan for current and future adoption (rather than current adoption alone) to realize economies of scale on deployment costs, including design and construction.

*Required Fields
Market Segment*
City*
Zip Code*
Parking Spaces*
Total number of spaces in your parking facility, including spaces for EV charging stations.
Existing Charge Ports*
Total number of EV charging connectors currently available at your site (e.g., if you already have two charging stations, each with two connectors, input 4).
Estimated Current EVs
Number of EVs you estimate for your site.
Estimated Additional EVs at Site by 2020
Number of EVs you estimate for your site by 2020. This number will be added to the Estimated Current EVs to calculate the total EV population at your site by 2020.
Preferred Ratio of EVs/Charge Port
Ratio of EVs per charge port for daily use. For instance, “1” means that a single EV will use a single charge port per day. Any higher ratio will require vehicles to rotate after completing charging.

Results from the Charge Port Estimator are based on assumptions about local EV adoption and estimated growth; they cannot be guaranteed by Southern California Edison. Customers are advised to further evaluate their EV charging needs before finalizing their infrastructure deployment plans as actual and future EV adoption may be significantly higher or lower than shown by the Charge Port Estimator.
