Even if you plan on just planting a tree or shrub, always call 811 before digging. There could be underground power lines and other buried utilities where you plan to dig. The 811 service marks buried utility lines so everyone knows to dig a safe distance away from them. Adults should call 811 at least two business days before digging, excluding the day of the call as well as holidays and weekend.
