Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)

  • 100% powered by electricity
  • Emits fewer pollutants
  • Average driving range between 80 and 250 miles

 

Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)

  • Conventional hybrid EV + purely electric system
  • Uses rechargeable batteries, an electric motor, and an internal combustion engine to travel greater distance with higher fuel efficiency than conventional vehicles.
  • Average driving range from 10 to about 50 miles on electric only, and up to about 400 miles in total (with electric and gas).

What Are Your Charging Options?

Plugging In at Home

Most of the time, you’ll charge your electric vehicle at home. “Fueling up” at home can be as simple as connecting a cord set to a standard outlet (Level 1 charging) or by installing your own home charging station (Level 2 charging).

Plugging In On-the-Go

While you’re on the road, you can find places to plug in along the way using charging station maps or mobile apps. Many workplaces, malls, and parking structures are equipped with public Level 1 or Level 2 charging stations for your convenience.

Level 1 (120 volts):
3 to 20 Hours Charge Time

With Level 1 charging, there is no need for equipment installation. The charging cord set provided with electric vehicles uses a standard 120-volt outlet. A full charge at Level 1 can take as little as 3 hours, depending on your vehicle type, battery size, and how much you drive between charges.

Level 2 (240 volts):
1 to 8 Hours Charge Time

Level 2 charging is faster and may take as little as 1 hour, depending on your vehicle type, battery size, and how much you drive between charges. It requires installing a charging station and a 240-volt circuit installed by a licensed electrician.

 

Get the Right Rate for Your Ride

1. Current Residential Rate

The Residential Plan (Schedule D) uses a single meter for your entire home, including your EV. As you use more energy, the cost per kilowatt hour increases, but does not vary based on the time of the day.

2. Residential Time-of-Use (TOU) Plan

The Residential Time-of-use Plan (TOU-D) uses a single meter for your entire home, including your EV, and offers “super low” rates every day at night.

3. Electric Vehicle Plan

The EV Plan (TOU-EV-1) requires a second meter and panel, installed at your expense, to measure the energy used to charge your EV separately from the rest of your home. This plan also offers “super low” rates every day at night.
