Planning Ahead

Start by estimating your charging costs with our quick and easy Electric Vehicle Rate Assistant—so you know what to expect. When you’re ready to buy or lease be sure to call us at 1-800-4EV-INFO for a free personalized rate analysis—one of our SCE Home Fuel AdvisorsSM will help you choose a rate plan as well as understand the steps most people find useful in preparing for electric car charging.

The Rate Stuff

Depending on your lifestyle and driving needs, you may want to opt for 1 of our 2 special electric vehicle rate plans which offer reduced rates when you charge during off-peak hours. The first, our Home & Electric Vehicle Plan, uses a single meter to measure the electricity usage of both your home and electric vehicle. The second rate plan, our Electric Vehicle Plan requires a separate meter for charging your car, while your household usage remains on its own meter and its current rate plan.

Plug In to Savings

To maximize the benefits of off-peak charging, make sure to charge after 9 p.m. if you’re on the Electric Vehicle Rate Plan, or after midnight if you’ve selected the Home & Electric Vehicle Plan. Most plug-in electric cars allow you to program your start and stop charging times, or even “charge completion” time, to help you take full advantage of our electric-car rate plans.
