Long Beach Update

At this time, the majority of customers have been restored. We will continue to test the system and customers may experience intermittent outages. The safety of the public and our crews remains our highest priority. We thank the city of Long Beach for its cooperation and for the especially important safety efforts of first responders in the Long Beach Fire and Police departments. Read the story >

Supplier Diversity and Development

Our Commitment

Our commitment to providing opportunities for small and diverse firms remains stronger than ever. In 2014, 45% or $1.7 billion, of our total purchases was from women, minority, and service-disabled veteran (WMDVBE’s) owned businesses.

Supplier Development Through EDGE

EDGE (Entrepreneurial Development, Growth and Education) is a supplier development program designed to serve businesses ranging in size from microenterprises to large firms. The program’s mission is to provide comprehensive developmental experience through mentoring, networking, partnerships and training.

DBE Subcontracting (Tier 2) Program

We encourage our prime suppliers (DBE and non-DBE) to follow our lead and adopt their own formal initiatives towards diversity and inclusion. We also encourage them to partner with diverse businesses through subcontracting arrangements and participation in our Diverse Business Enterprise (DBE) Subcontracting (Tier 2) Program. In 2011, our prime suppliers reported $428.2 million in DBE subcontracting spend.

If you are a prime supplier and received notification, please report your DBE Subcontracting (Tier 2) spend into the SCE DBE Subcontracting Portal. For more details click here.

Supplier Diversity 2014 Annual Report & 2015 Plan

Capability Overview Meetings

An important part of our Supplier Diversity Program is to connect diverse business enterprises with internal decision makers. Our Supplier Diversity & Development team hosts Capability Overview Meetings with aspiring, qualified suppliers and our Supply Operation and other key SCE business organization personnel. These meetings provide suppliers with the opportunity to present their company's business plan, experience, qualifications, and credentials to the people responsible for procuring materials and services. In the process, suppliers get a better understanding of our business and upcoming procurement opportunities.
