Photovoltaic Canopy and Tracking Demonstration

Photovoltaic Canopy and Tracking Demonstration

See a live, grid-connected Photovoltaic system in action! Our power-generating display also features various solar panel technologies, including a solar monitoring mechanism that tracks the sun to maximize solar-power production. These displays are also used in our training classes and to promote the California Solar Initiative (CSI).

Ground Source Heat Pump

Ground Source Heat Pump

Geothermal Heat Pumps can offer increased energy efficiency compared to traditional air source heat pumps. Our working model shows you how.

Outdoor Demonstrations

Outdoor Demonstrations

Our 4.5-acre outdoor space has working displays that showcase innovations in chemigation, agriculture, outdoor lighting, photovoltaic, and irrigation and pumping. It is open to the public year round.

Solar Tracker

Solar Tracker

Our solar technology displays highlight different types of solar cells and explain how solar tracking can increase their energy-production. You can also learn about how to bring solar power to your home or business through our classes.

Cool Roof Display

Cool Roof Display

A cool roof reflects 65% of the sun’s energy, instead of absorbing it like common roofing material. Installing a cool roof saves money and helps the environment, too. It’s not only cool, its smart!

Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)

See the inner workings of our 5-Ton HVAC and Split-System HVAC units, and attend a class or seminar to learn how an efficient HVAC system can benefit you and the environment.

Exhibit Hall

Exhibit Hall

The Exhibit Hall is the largest classroom at the site and is used for community, public, and educational events. When not in use for events, you will find educational, mobile and interactive displays on hi-bay lighting, LEDs, motors and drives, HVAC systems, A/C ducting, and the Free Tool Lending Library display. You will also find information on our rebates and programs.

Daylighting Display

Daylighting Display

Learn how to use sunlight to your advantage. The smart use of daylighting can significantly reduce your operating costs by displacing electric light, typically the largest energy-user in commercial and educational buildings.

Insulated Concrete Form

Insulated Concrete Form

Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) walls can reduce 30%-40% of the energy used for heating and cooling. They are also resistant to fire and severe weather, and can keep out 20% more noise than standard stud frame walls.

Light Lab

Light Lab

Get a first-hand look at the latest in lighting technologies, lamps, and controls. The Light Lab has more than 150 options on display so you can compare the color and efficiency of various lights for virtually any use in homes, offices or industry.

Structured Insulated Panels (SIP) Building

Structured Insulated Panels (SIP) Building

On the outside this building looks like any other, but its structured, insulated panels give it exceptional strength and energy-efficiency. SIPs are usually load-bearing laminates of foam and wood sheathing materials that are used for building exterior walls, roofs, floors and foundations in homes and commercial buildings. They are shipped from the factory to the building site and assembled by framing crews. SIPs are highly insulating and tests performed by national laboratories back up product claims that they can survive hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and even indoor fires.
