We investigate and evaluate each claim individually, and our policy is to respond promptly.

Long Beach Update

At this time, the majority of customers have been restored. A plan has been developed to assess and temperature test the underground system in downtown Long Beach. Crews will perform these inspections throughout the city and unless we discover additional problems, we anticipate having everyone’s service restored by 6 p.m. The safety of the public and our crews remain our highest priority. Supporting the Diverse Communities Around Us

In 2013, we gave $19.7 million to 2,400 nonprofits across central, coastal, and Southern California and 85% went to support programs benefitting underserved communities and groups. We look for opportunities that demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and meeting the needs of underserved communities.

Participating in the California Utility Diversity Council

As an active member of the California Utility Diversity Council, we are dedicated to its vision and goals. The Council brings together the CPUC, businesses, and regulated California utilities including cable, electricity, gas, telecommunications, and water.




 

Our Consumer Advisory Panel

Initiated in November 1998, the SCE Consumer Advisory Panel (CAP) was formed to bring greater awareness and clarity to consumer issues of interest to Southern California Edison and Edison International; to broaden and sharpen company understanding of consumer issues and consider new ideas: and, equally important, to examine new and effective ways to strengthen the company’s capacity to respond to the challenges of serving its customers. There are 18 members who regularly meet with our senior leaders, including 13 women and 14 minorities.

  1. Advising our senior management on public policy and consumer issues
  2. Raising awareness about legal, political, and regulatory issues facing our industry
  3. Promoting public awareness about our initiatives of interest to consumers and our positions on issues
  4. Nurturing meaningful dialogue with opinion leaders from consumer groups, community-based organizations, environmental groups, educational institutions, economic development organizations, small business, civic groups, and government bodies
