Sunshine Canyon Landfill Sub-transmission Line Relocation Project

Pursuant to a request by Browning Ferris Industries of California, Inc. (BFI), a California corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Republic Services, Inc. (Republic), we are   proposing the Sunshine Canyon Landfill Sub-transmission Line Relocation Project in order to relocate an existing power line away from active operations within the Sunshine Canyon Landfill in Los Angeles, to allow for development of the landfill in accordance with approved facility permits.

The City and County of Los Angeles.

This project consists of these main components:

  • Relocate a sub-transmission line segment along the landfill’s northern boundary, away from its current alignment through the center of the landfill along the Los Angeles County-City boundary
  • Remove three existing pole structures and replace two others with tubular steel poles
  • New steel poles will be 70 to105 feet tall, compared to those now in place that are 50 to 88 feet tall

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is currently reviewing SCE's project application.

  • 4th Qtr 2012: SCE filed its application for a Permit to Construct with the CPUC.
