Long Beach Update

At this time, the majority of customers have been restored. A plan has been developed to assess and temperature test the underground system in downtown Long Beach. Crews will perform these inspections throughout the city and unless we discover additional problems, we anticipate having everyone’s service restored by 6 p.m. The safety of the public and our crews remain our highest priority. We thank the city of Long Beach for its cooperation and for the safety efforts of first responders in the Long Beach Fire and Police departments. Get the latest update >

Corporate Philanthropy & Employee Giving

Corporate Philanthropy

Our parent company, Edison International, is committed to addressing important issues like education, the environment, public safety & emergency preparedness, and civic engagement. Last year, it gave $20 million to local community programs that make a difference in these areas, and an additional $1.2 million in college scholarships for STEM students.

Most of Edison’s giving is targeted to help meet the needs of diverse ethnic groups, seniors, people with special needs, women, low-income, and gay and lesbian populations – groups that are often underserved.

Employee Giving

Through our annual campaign and other employee-led efforts, our employees support causes that benefit young, elderly, disabled, and low-income people in local communities. In 2014, they raised more than $2.6 million in charitable contributions to benefit thousands of nonprofit partners.

Employee Volunteering

Giving back also includes volunteering, and last year our employees and retirees gave 192,000 hours to help build and unite the communities where they live and work. Our parent company, Edison International, recognizes their commitment to volunteering with incentives such as donations to the nonprofits of their choice.
