Core Giving Areas: Education, Environment, Public Safety & Civic Engagement
For 125 years, we’ve been partnering with the communities we serve. Our new community grants program provides up to $5,000 per year to community-based non-profits that help underserved populations, and whose missions and programs further our philanthropic focus on education, environment, public safety and preparedness, and civic engagement. We also continue to provide larger grants that align with our strategic plan in the four targeted areas.
Help for Those Struggling to Pay Utility Bills
Since 1982, we have provided special financial assistance to local households struggling to pay their electric bills. Our Energy Assistance Fund (EAF) distributes assistance through the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, which collaborates with more than 90 nonprofit organizations to meet needs in our communities. Most recipients are seniors, people with disabilities, and those facing unusual financial hardship. All meet income guidelines.
Last year, more than $1.4 million was donated to EAF in voluntary charitable contributions by our employees, our customers, and shareholders of our parent company, Edison International. Learn how to donate to EAF.
Encouraging Employee Giving
We encourage our employees to give back to the communities where they live and work, and they amaze us year after year. From pledging and giving more than $2.9 million to schools and non-profit organizations last year, to logging more than 281,000 hours of volunteer service, our employees and retirees join in our commitment to supporting education, protecting the environment, helping the underserved, and improving the quality of life in our communities.
