Different SCE Account Numbers Provide Unique Information About Your Account

Different account numbers are used to manage different information for your account. These numbers include your:

  • Customer Account Number: Your Customer Account Number begins with the number 4, 5, 6, or 7, no dashes, and then 11 digits, like this: 400000000000, 500000000000, etc. This number is tied to your billing information and mailing address and is used to issue statements, payments, debits, and credits. Before April 2021, your Customer Account Number began with the number 2, a dash, then a nine-digit account number with dashes in between, like this: 2-XX-XXX-XXXX.
  • Service Account Number: Your Service Account Number begins with the number 8, no dashes, and then 9 digits, like this: 8000000000. This number is tied to your service address where your meter is and helps us track your usage information and calculations. Before April 2021, your Service Account Number began with the number 3, a dash, then a nine-digit account number with dashes in between, like this 3-XXX-XXXX-XX.

A customer can have one or more Customer Account(s) with many Service Accounts under it. For example, a customer can have a Customer Account with 2 residential Service Accounts, as well as another Customer Account with 3 commercial Service Accounts. All Service Accounts calculate their usage based on their own rates and then combine to show the total charges due for the Customer Account. You can view all of your accounts on My Account on sce.com.
