Solar Leadership

Creating a cleaner, greener future

SCE has long been a pioneer and a leader in renewable energy. Our long-standing commitment dates back to 1911 when we began operating our Big Creek Hydro system in the southern Sierra Mountains and continues today: SCE is the nation's leading purchaser of renewable energy.

Widely recognized for our environmental stewardship and balanced renewable portfolio, SCE each year delivers thousands of megawatts of electricity from wind, solar, biomass, small hydropower and geothermal sources to homes and businesses just like yours.

At SCE, we're passionate about solar and the promise it holds for a cleaner, greener energy future. We're educating solar contractors to help meet the demands of a burgeoning "green" economy, hosting informational workshops for customers like you who want to learn more about the benefits of "going solar" and investing in new solar technologies that will enable us to provide your home or business with clean, renewable power for many years to come.

We invite you to learn more about our innovative programs and solutions that make it possible for you to join the solar movement:

California Solar Initiative (customer-owned)

Harvesting the power of the sun is easy for homeowners and businesses like you who want to generate their own electricity. Incentives from the California Solar Initiative (CSI) program make it possible. Combined with tax credits and energy efficiency measures, CSI incentives can significantly reduce a solar system's cost, which means you get to keep more "green" in your wallet. For more information about CSI, Multifamily Affordable Solar Housing or the New Solar Homes Program eligibility, visit www.sce.com/gosolar.

SCE Solar Rooftop Program (utility-owned)

The SCE Solar Rooftop Program is yet another shining example of our commitment to making sure you'll always have reliable electric service whenever you need it. SCE installs solar generating systems on leased commercial rooftops within its service territory — usually large warehouses or logistics facilities. Energy produced by these utility-owned solar projects provides power to neighboring homes, businesses and communities. If you're a landlord or building owner and are interested in the program, please contact Lorena Muñoz at solar.landlord@sce.com.

Large-Scale Solar Power Contracts (third party-owned)

SCE also powers your community with renewable energy by purchasing solar electricity on the open market through long-term contracts. The solar power is generated by third-party independent power producers using various technologies. To learn more about eligibility, visit www.sce.com/EnergyProcurement.
