Ways to Save on Your Cooling Bill

Southern California Edison's A/C Quality Program offers ways you can save money while staying comfortable at your home or business:

Quality Maintenance is an “efficiency tuning” incentive program that optimizes the performance and efficiency of your Air Conditioner. Professionally-trained HVAC contractors equipped with diagnostic instruments service your air conditioner and ensure it is running optimally.

How can Quality Maintenance help you?

An optimized unit can save energy and money, and helps prevent your system from breaking down when you need it most. After these measures are performed, an independent third party provides quality assurance and verification of savings.

Quality Installation is a rebate program that focuses on selecting the right high efficiency equipment for your home and ensuring the installation meets ENERGY STAR® Quality Installation Guidelines. So, when it's time to replace your system, SCE offers a rebate of up to $1,250 to you and additional incentives to the installing contractor who meets ENERGY STAR® Quality Installation Guidelines (PDF).

When you combine this Quality Installation Program with manufacturer rebates and additional tax credits* potentially available for high efficiency equipment, your installation costs can be substantially decreased - helping you overcome the higher cost of installing a high efficiency air conditioner (A/C).

How can ENERGY STAR® Quality Installation help you?

Through the ENERGY STAR® Quality Installation Program, you as a homeowner will receive a cost effective energy saving installation while improving the comfort of your home. Without a quality installation you risk losing as much as 30% of the cooling efficiency you're paying for. An improper installation costs more in the long run—using more electricity, running up your bill, and making your A/C work harder, which can shorten equipment life. Common installation problems such as low air flow, improper charge or duct leakage can reduce the efficiency of your air conditioner. Once you've purchased new equipment, the Quality Installation program ensures that the new A/C equipment is properly installed. Our Quality Installation Program uses NATE-certified contractors only, and provides third-party quality control to ensure that your system is installed to deliver maximum performance

*Federal tax credits may be available for split systems that meet Tier 3 efficiency (SEER 16 / EER 14). For all other equipment types, equipment must meet Tier 2 efficiency. Consult your tax professional for qualification.
