SCE is the nation’s leading purchaser of renewable energy and the top purchaser of solar energy. Our commitment to environmental sustainability is deep. We help our customers conserve energy – saving about 5.6 billion kilowatt hours of electricity or enough to power more than 789,000 typical homes so far – and have helped decrease carbon emissions equal to taking 400,000 gasoline-powered cars off the road.
Electric Vehicles
SCE is a strong believer in electric vehicles. Our fleet of electric vehicles is the nation’s largest and our field crews and employees have driven more than 17 million all-electric miles. Now that electric vehicles are going mainstream, smart grid technology will help meet the needs of an expected 400,000 PEVs in the SCE service territory by 2020.
Why Do We Need a Smart Grid?
