Shaver Lake Gets Some Big Fish

There are some pretty big fish in Shaver Lake now, thanks to Southern California Edison. The utility released a thousand pounds of "trophy-sized" rainbow trout into the lake Tuesday morning. Each fish averages 18 to 21 inches in length and about 3-and-a-half pounds. Local sportsmen say the fish will make for some great fishing. Southern California Edison owns and operates Shaver and says this is part of its commitment to the environment and local communities and fisheries. The lake will be open to the public for all summertime activities and recreation. Shaver Lake is the largest of multiple reservoirs and generates about 1,000 Megawatts of electricity to southern and central California consumers. The lake is not only one of the facility's largest reservoirs, but one of the area's most popular summertime destinations. View the video.

Fantastic fishing conditions at Shaver Lake

Fantastic fishing conditions at Shaver Lake! Yesterday, SCE received a shipment of approximately 350 trophy-sized rainbow trout, which have been stocked in the lake. These fish measure 18-21 inches in length and weigh about 3 pounds each. Shaver Lake and Sierra Marinas are open for business so if you like to fish, come up and take advantage of the great lake conditions, replete with trophy-sized fish, before the rush of the summer season!

Phase One work to reline the dam face at Shaver Lake is complete. Thanks for your patience! For all you water enthusiasts, the lake level at Shaver is back to normal now and the lake will be full for the start of the summer recreation season. Come and enjoy the great outdoors!
