Take Action on Climate Change

Southern California Edison (SCE) and The Climate Registry (The Registry) present the Cool Planet Project, a program which encourages large industrial customers to install energy efficiency (EE) projects, in turn reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The program rewards those customers with membership to The Climate Registry, which supplies cost effective, user-friendly assistance to measure organizations' GHG footprint.

Benefits of Registry Membership

  • Recognition as an environmental leader
  • Readiness for new regulations and the tools for managing risk
  • Cost effective tools to identify, measure and report your GHG profile
  • GHG baseline protection and documentation of early actions & reductions
  • Preparation for GHG emissions trading
  • Competitive business advantage by identifying energy inefficiencies
  • Education for success in a carbon-constrained world

Benefits of The Cool Planet Project

  • Complimentary first year membership to The Climate Registry
  • Up to 50% of EE project costs paid by SCE
  • Publicity and marketing services to communicate customer's environmental leadership
  • Financial assistance towards third party verification
  • Reduction of GHG emissions through reduced energy usage

Eligibility & Requirements

  • Multiple facilities can be aggregated to reach the required annual EE savings
  • Projects must be installed and meet the requirements of SCE's energy efficiency program(s)
  • Project funds are committed on a firstcome-first-serve basis until funds are depleted
  • Upon receipt of The Cool Planet Project benefits, customers are responsible for any additional associated fees with The Registry and GHG verification
  • The final kWh project savings amount is the amount approved by SCE upon post-installation inspection
