Foodservice Technology Center

At the Foodservice Technology Center, we can demonstrate how to improve the energy efficiency of your foodservice operation with efficient cooking equipment such as induction cooktops, clamshell griddles, convection ovens and combi ovens. We can also demonstrate the efficiency advantages of variable volume exhaust hoods, energy management systems and the latest in high efficiency lighting and HVAC systems.

Energy Management System (EMS)

An Energy Management System (EMS) can maximize your foodservice operation. An EMS monitors and controls refrigerators, freezers and cooking equipment in addition to lighting and air conditioners and offers energy saving benefits. The system sounds an alarm when it identifies problems that affect energy usage, food quality & safety, service and customer comfort. Edison's Standard Performance Contract (SPC) Program pays rebates on qualified systems.

Connectionless/Boilerless Steamers

These steamers use less energy and water than other gas or electric steam technologies. Energy efficient, Energy Star qualified steamers can save up to 11,160kWh and use at least 90% less water than standard models annually. This equates to a savings of nearly $1500 and $1000 on your electric and water bills, respectively. Rebates are available for qualified steamers in the amount of $750.

Combi Oven

By combining the benefits of steam and hot air convection, the combi offers better quality, versatility, and energy efficiency than traditional systems. The combi is also space saving and can cook many different menus. Rebates are available for qualified combi ovens in the amount of $1000.

Variable Speed Controls for Hoods

This system controls the speed of the exhaust fan and the makeup air fan to reduce hood energy during idle periods.

Induction Ranges & Woks

In addition to being safer and cleaner than other systems, induction equipment enables quick, efficient cooking without heating the kitchen, making it more comfortable for workers and reducing air conditioner and ventilation needs.
