Certified Sites

Certified sites are ready to go and relatively risk-free, offering a qualified developer land that is virtually shovel ready. The Site Certification Program was developed to assist with the commercial and industrial business site selection, planning, and development process in the state.

SCE engaged McCallum Sweeney (MSC) to create the Site Certification pilot program and certify sites in our region. Currently, there is one certified site in Southern California located in the city of Apple Valley.

  • Town of Apple Valley Certified Site (PDF)
Apple Valley offers a recently certified 80-acre site located within the Town's recently formed North Apple Valley Industrial Specific Plan area. This 5100-acre area surrounding the Apple Valley airport has been pre-zoned for industrial projects.

Currently, the certification of a site is performed by the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) who will review required materials to ensure a site meets specific criteria including, but not limited to, verification and availability of utilities, site access, The DRE, which will be working in partnership with local and regional economic development agencies, utility companies, commercial realtors, and other economic development professionals, has already approved some sites and that number is expected to increase as the program gains exposure.
