CAL-ISO Declares Flex Alert For Today
A Flex Alert means California's peak energy demand is high and everyone needs to take action immediately. Flex Alert is an electricity conservation alert system designed to raise public awareness of an electrical emergency at times when electricity reserves are low.
Please conserve energy at home and at work by "powering down" now. Follow these tips to save energy:
- Turn off all unnecessary lights, computers and appliances
- Postpone using major appliances until after 7 p.m.
- Turn your air conditioning thermostat up to 78 degrees or higher
- Use fans to help keep cool
- Close the blinds, drapes or shutters to keep the sun and heat out
