By becoming more energy-efficient you'll help California conserve valuable energy resources now and well into the future. This Residential Savings Guide will point you toward a number of ideas that will not only help you conserve energy but also help reduce your monthly energy bill.
Starting with the Online Energy Survey, you’ll find energy savings in places you may not have thought to look — from something as simple as replacing your incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs to buying ENERGY STAR®-labeled appliances. In fact, did you know that if one in ten homes used ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances, the environmental benefit would be like planting 1.7 million new acres of trees? Everyone will find ways to save and conserve. So start saving energy today and count on saving money for a long time to come.

Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling There's a reward for turning in your old appliances.
SCE will pay you to haul away your old refrigerator or freezer. And when you let us remove your old appliance, we guarantee that it won’t be used again. So with this program, you’ll get cash, help the environment and enjoy savings of up to $292 each year* by replacing your refrigerator or freezer with a new, energy efficient model.
FACT: Refrigerators consume about 18% of all electricity in a typical California home. An energy-efficient model can lower your electric bill and help offset the cost of a new one.
NOTE: Only SCE customers qualify for this program. Refrigerator or freezer must be working (cooling) condition, must be between 10 and 27 cubic feet and must be located at a valid SCE billing address.

Summer Discount Plan SAVE up to $200* each summer without sacrificing comfort.
Look forward to saving every summer without sacrificing comfort.
By participating in SCE’s Summer Discount Plan, you can save as much as $200* each summer. Just choose the savings amount and comfort level that works best for you. Then SCE will install a device that will occasionally be used to turn off or cycle your central air conditioner during periods of peak demand. Once you sign up, you’ll save automatically every summer, year after year. Plus, you’ll be helping reduce the environmental impact of producing energy. And that benefits everyone.

For more information and to enroll, visit www.sce.com/sdp or call toll-free 800-497-2813.
*The maximum savings amount of up to $200 represents the summer season savings a resident could enjoy with a typical 4.5-ton central air conditioning unit. Savings could increase with larger units and decrease for smaller ones. Based upon full summer participation from June 1 to October 1. Enrollment after June 1 will result in prorated savings beginning from the first meter read date after your application is processed and your device is installed and activated. SCE may also test the device twice per summer for 30 minutes. The credit amounts and program options are subject to change by the California Public Utilities Commission. Maximum credit amounts are subject to certain minimum usage requirements and vary by central air conditioner tonnage. Customers receiving a medical baseline allocation for air conditioning under Schedule MB-E are not eligible to participate in the Summer Discount Plan. Net Energy Metering (NEM) credits received under Schedule NEM may offset in whole or in part the program credits associated with the Summer Discount Plan.

California Solar Initiative (CSI) Keeping the environment clean one sunny day at a time.
Southern California has an abundant supply of sunshine. And solar energy is friendly to the environment. By completing a home energy efficiency survey and installing a photovoltaic solar energy system on your home, you’ll reduce your monthly electric bill, help keep California’s air clean and diversify our energy supply. Incentives are available through the California Solar Initiative to help lower the cost of purchasing and installing a solar energy system. Plus, you may also qualify for a U.S. Federal tax credit (consult the IRS or your tax consultant for details).
The CSI program is authorized by the California Public Utilities Commission and began January 1, 2007 and runs for 10 years.
FACT: Using solar energy to supply energy to a million homes would reduce CO2 emissions by 4.3 million tons per year, equal to removing 850,000 cars from the road.

For additonal information, please visit www.sce.com/csi or call 866-584-7436 (Technical Questions) or 800-799-4177 (General Questions).
