Contact with Overhead Power Lines Can Kill. Don’t Risk It!
Look Up and Live!
Always look for power lines before you start work. Do not raise irrigation pipes into the air. Carry irrigation pipes, ladders, and tools even with the ground to avoid hitting power lines.
Call Before You Dig!
Call Underground Service Alert (USA) toll free at
1-800-227-2600
at least two working days before you dig, disc, till, or move dirt in any way. USA will arrange to mark underground utilities so you can work safely.
Always Check for Power Lines!
Check for overhead power lines when securing a load. Park vehicles safely away from overhead power lines and look up before throwing any tie-downs.
Remember the 10-Foot Rule!
Always stay at least 10 feet away from overhead power lines. Maintain a 10-foot clearance when using booms, harvesters, dump trucks, and tools or equipment.
