Technical Assistance & Technology Incentives (TA&TI)
Saving energy is key to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating a better future for everyone. Southern California Edison (SCE) would like our business customers to contribute in this effort by encouraging them to participate in Southern California Edison's (SCE) Technical Assistance and Technology Incentives Program (TA&TI). This program provides eligible commercial and industrial customers free demand response site assessments and offers financial incentives for installing eligible demand response (DR) equipment that reduce electricity usage during periods of peak demand. These services will also give you increased flexibility to participate in other demand response programs that provide additional energy-saving incentives.
How The Program Works
SCE business customers can contact their SCE account representative to request technical assistance. This process involves:
- Discussing your business' demand response potential.
- Scheduling a free preliminary assessment.
- Receiving a detailed Technical Audit
- Completing registration forms that will help SCE staff schedule technical assistance and reserve funds for technology incentives.
- Testing and verification that the DR equipment accomplishes the load reduction
The preliminary assessment will be performed by an engineer who will determine whether a more in-depth technical audit of projected load reduction potential in your facility is recommended.
What You'll Receive
With TA&TI, you are able to reserve technology incentives prior to proceeding with the installation of qualifying technologies. To reserve incentive funds:
- Request and complete a Technology Incentive Reservation Request.
- Send SCE your completed Application for Technology Incentive.
- Once your request is confirmed by SCE, the reservation will be in effect for 180 calendar days.
Once one or more qualifying demand response technologies have been purchased and installed in your facility, you can apply to receive technology incentives. Upon availability of funding, as well as measurement and verifcation of your facility's dispatchable load reduction potential due to the installed qualifying technology, you will be reimbursed up to $250 per kW of measured and verified load reduction. This amount will not exceed the actual reasonable cost of the purchase and installation of the qualifying technology. Technology incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is depleted or the Program is terminated, whichever comes first.
Who Can Participate
TA&TI is open to all SCE business customers in SCE's service territory with registered demands of 200 kW or more. This registered demand of 200 kW can be one service account or be made up of multiple service accounts. The aggregated load of the participating service accounts from one SCE customer account must be 200 kW or more. Aggregated TA&TI service accounts must all be from one SCE customer (not multiple SCE customers).
Note: To be eligible to receive 100 percent of the technology incentive for your installed qualifying technology, you must enroll your facility in and participate in one or more qualifying demand response programs for at least 12 consecutive months (otherwise, you are only eligible to receive 50 percent of the technology incentive for your installed qualifying technology). Qualifying demand response programs include the Demand Bidding Program, the Time-of-Use Base Interruptible Program, the Capacity Bidding Program, the Agricultural Pumping-Interruptible Program, several of the Critical Peak Pricing programs, the California Demand Reserves Partnership, the Large Interruptible Program I-6, and the Optional Binding Mandatory Curtailment Program.
What Is Needed
Each service account participating in TA&TI in any way (i.e. TA&TI Preliminary Assessment, Technical Audit, Technology Incentives) must have an interval meter.
