What's New for SPC in 2008

Program Improvements

• Increased customer site cap - While this change is retroactive to August 1, 2006, the site cap for SPC projects is 15% of the annual incentive budget or $24,111,000 per project site. 
• New load eligibility - New equipment installations or added load projects where the footprint of the building is unaltered continue to be eligible for SPC incentives. New contrsuction projects are processed through Savings By Design.   
• AC units – Air conditioning units 12 tons and above are eligible for incentives at $0.14 p/kWh.
• T8 and T5 lamp specifications – Lighting requirements for linear fluorescent T5 and T8 lamps are noted in the table below.

Application Improvements

• Combined SPC Application — Itemized and calculated measures use the same application.
• Payee designation – The applicant may designate a vendor or other party as the recipient of the incentive payment.
• Credit utility account feature – The incentive payment may be directed as a credit on the SCE customer service bill. Form 2 of the application form allows you to indicate this option.  

Software Improvements

The SPC software offers calculation tools to assist with many types of energy savings calculations. In addition to the 24 measures currently available, users can now calculate savings for frictionless compressors, and over/undersizing HVAC equipment.

Early Retirement

Eligible Early Retirement measures continue to receive larger incentives than traditional calculated measures. Incentives are based on existing system efficiency rather than minimum standards. Existing equipment must have 5 or more years of remaining useful life to qualify.
