Demand Response Resource Contracts

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has stated its commitment to demand response as a vital energy resource in California. Through demand response, customers can help California can maintain a reliable supply of energy, reduce the likelihood of rotating outages, and avoid the need for building new power plants, meaning less greenhouse gas emissions.

CPUC Decision 06-11-049, dated November 7, 2006, directed SCE to solicit bids for agreements with third parties to procure additional demand response resources. In response to this very important decision, SCE published its intent to issue a Request for Offers for demand response resources, resulting in offers for demand response from third-party organizations.
