El Casco System Project


SCE proposes to build the El Casco System Project to serve forecasted electrical demand in Calimesa, Beaumont, and the surrounding areas of unincorporated northern Riverside County. The El Casco System Project will include building a new substation, upgrading existing transmission lines, and retrofitting older facilities near the cities of Banning, Beaumont, Mentone, and Yucaipa. The project would maintain reliability in the region and serve the area’s projected electrical demand.

SCE filed an application for the project with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in March 2007. The CPUC has reviewed the application and a decision is expected by mid October 2008. The project is expected to be operational in 2010.
