Several Southern California Edison (SCE) facilities operate in compliance with two types of federal water permit, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and the Spill, Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC). Each permitted facility has unique permit requirements, but SCE ensures that chemicals are not released from facilities to state and federal waters in amounts that could adversely impact water quality.
In addition to these water permits, SCE operates under a general water permit issued by the state of California that allows us to handle water in a way that helps to ensure that SCE delivers electricity safely, effectively, and in an environmentally friendly manner. We work hard to ensure that permits and plans are current, and that we operate within federal, state and local laws and regulations. |
