Selling to SCE
Purchasing Strategy
SCE's Supply Chain Management (SCM) organization has adopted comprehensive strategies and programs to achieve its service, quality and cost goals in the acquisition and management of goods and services.

This page includes information on:

Sourcing Strategy

SCE's sourcing strategy is based on a process of creating value by considering all supply chain costs associated with an item or service, not just with its purchase price.   Beyond the purchase price, SCE's sourcing decisions incorporate storage, distribution, use, and disposal of goods in addition to the impact of quality and service to internal SCE business processes.

Supplier Performance Program

The SCE supplier performance program provides recognition to key strategic suppliers for providing superior value, quality and service to SCE.   In this program, an agreement is reached with each participating supplier that details costs, quality, and service goals for the coming year.  The goals are specific to the type of product or service the supplier provides.   Superior performance in these categories results in valuable public recognition and awards for high performance suppliers.

Supplier Diversity

SCE is committed to promoting opportunities for woman-, minority- and disabled veteran-owned business enterprises (WMDVBE) to participate in bidding and contracting with the Company. Our Supplier Diversity program is designed to increase WMDVBE participation in providing materials and services to SCE where they can meet its cost, quality, and service standards.   It is SCE's general policy to procure equipment, materials, supplies and services including contract construction, on the basis of competitive bids from multiple qualified sources, except when otherwise justified.

Supply Chain Tools

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is a computer to computer exchange of business transactions (i.e. purchase orders, invoices, shipping notices) using a standard format.  SCE's EDI transactions are based on the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X12 standard.   If your business contracts with SCE and is interested in becoming an EDI trading partner, access SCE Electronic Commerce for more information.
