The restructuring of the California electric industry in March 1998 gave customers the following options:

• Direct Access - Rate Schedule DA is for customers who elect to purchase electric power and ancillary services from an Electric Service Provider (ESP). Certain restrictions apply. Since September 2001, the California Public Utilities Commission has suspended direct access for new customers.
• Interval Meter Ownership - Rate Schedule BSC-IMO is for customers who want to continue to purchase power from SCE but want to purchase and own an interval meter to obtain more information about their energy usage.
