Q. What constitutes a minority-owned business?
A. A minority-owned business is a business enterprise that is at least 51% owned by a minority individual or groups; or, in the case of any publicly owned business, at least 51% of the stock of which is owned by one or more minority groups, and whose management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more of those individuals. The contracting utility shall presume that minority includes, but is not limited to, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Americans, and other groups (whose members are found to be disadvantaged by the Small Business Administration pursuant to Section 8(d) of Small Business Act.)
Q. What are the classifications of woman-owned or minority-owned business enterprises (WMBEs)?
A. The classifications of WMBEs are as follows: WMBE - a women-owned enterprise, or a minority-owned business enterprise which includes persons of one or more of the following classifications: Black Americans, Hispanic American, Native Americans, Asian Pacific Americans and other groups (whose members are found to be disadvantaged by the Small Business Administration pursuant to Section 8(d) of Small Business Act.)
Q. How do I get certified as a WMBE or disabled-veteran business enterprise (DVBE)?
A. To be certified as a WMBE or DVBE, your business ownership status must be verified by one of the following agencies:
