El Casco System Project

Customer demand for electricity in the northwest Riverside County area will soon exceed the capacity of SCE's local and regional electric system. To address this growing demand and improve the reliability of the electric system, SCE is constructing the El Casco System Project, which consists of a new substation and the upgrade of an existing electric line.

Build the new El Casco substation and upgrade 15.4 miles of electric lines.

Communities Potentially Affected

Banning, Beaumont, Yucaipa and adjacent areas of unincorporated Riverside County.

Project status

Construction is scheduled to begin September 2009.

Proposed in-service date

November 2010.

Timeline - Anticipated Project Schedule
December 2008 The project was approved by the CPUC.
September 2009 Construction is scheduled to begin.
November 2010 Construction is expected to be complete.
