Environmental Commitment - Biological and Archaeological Resources Protection

Project Planning

SCE is committed to protecting the environment and has an internal policy of 100% compliance with laws and regulations protecting biological and archaeological resources. In order to ensure the protection of biological and archaeological resources during its operations, SCE has incorporated an environmental screening process into the planning of all new projects as well as during its operation and maintenance activities that have the potential to disturb the ground or impact native vegetation or habitats. Any such activities are required to first undergo a review by SCE’s team of biologists and archaeologists to ensure that impacts are avoided or reduced whenever possible.

As part of this environmental screening process, the Biological and Archaeological Resources Group works closely with the Company’s project planners to come up with methods and measures that protect these resources while getting important work done. Based on this collaboration, SCE’s biologists and archaeologists devise effective techniques to avoid and minimize environmental impacts and provide appropriate protective measures and guidelines to the crews conducting the work.
