Fire, flood, rain, snow, and wind are all primary causes of electrical outages throughout SCE’s service area. When natural disasters occur, SCE’s team of biologists and archaeologists are on hand to assist the field personnel in avoiding environmentally sensitive areas, and to coordinate emergency permits with state and federal agencies during the rebuild and repair of the electrical infrastructure. The archaeologists and biologists are on-call 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, and are prepared to provide complete, quick environmental assessments of the damaged SCE equipment areas so that further environmental impacts can be avoided.
