Rotating Outages Information
A rotating outage is a controlled electric outage that lasts approximately one hour for a group of circuits. Rotating outages are used during electric system emergency conditions to avoid widespread or uncontrolled blackouts. Each SCE customer is assigned a rotating outage group which can change, without notice, at any time.
Your Rotating Outage Group is located on the front of your SCE bill. Summary Bill customers will find this information in the "Details" portion of their bill. You can also find your current Rotating Outage Group Number online, by registering for My Account, and enrolling in Account Access. Once enrolled in Account Access, you will have easy access to all of your accounts in one place making looking up multiple rotating outage group numbers a snap.
Rotating Outage Groups will fall into the following categories: A, M, R, S, X — These groups are subject to rotating outages. N, EXEMPT — These groups are not subject to rotating outages. |

Current Status of Rotating Electric Outages in SCE Territory as of
4:30:50 PM, Saturday, July 04, 2009
For more than 15 years SCE has maintained a 99.98% Service Reliability rating for it's customers (
Check the CPUC's Electric Service Reliability Annual Reports). Predicting electricity demands and generation availability is at best an approximation. The Cal-ISO's forecasts and system status
change quickly, causing Edison's real-time electric grid management plan to change also. We make every effort to keep information posted on this Web site accurate.
Due to the uncertainties of electric system operating conditions during emergencies, SCE cannot predict or forecast exactly when an outage group may be affected by a rotating outage.
The "Rotating Outage Group" shown on your bill may change at any time, without notice, due to electric system operating needs.
