Rate Information - Business Rates

Medium Business

The following rate schedules apply to customers who register demands between 20 kilowatts (kW) and 500 kW, in addition to those with demands below 20 kW.

For more information about Southern California Edison's pricing schedules, please visit SCE's online Tariff Book.

Rate Schedule GS-2

SCE's Schedule GS-2 is designed primarily for medium-sized commercial and industrial customers who have electrical equipment registering demands greater than 20 kilowatts (kW) but less than 500 kilowatts. Typical GS-2 customers include small manufacturing and processing firms, as well as retail businesses, churches, service stations, schools, and restaurants.

Rate Schedule TOU-GS-3

SCE's Rate Schedule TOU-GS-3 replaces Rate Schedule TOU-GS-2 for medium-sized commercial and industrial customers with registered demand of 200 kW through 500 kW. Customers who may benefit from Rate Schedule TOU-GS-3 have sufficient energy usage during, or can move their usage to, the lower-priced mid- and off-peak hours to offset the higher-priced on-peak energy rates. Typical TOU-GS-3 customers include 24-hour service stations and convenience marts, recreational facilities, churches, restaurants, and motels.

TOU-GS-2-SOP

This rate is for customers who qualify for GS-1 or GS-2. It works like TOU-GS-2, but contains a "super off-peak" period, from midnight to 6 a.m., during which demand and energy charges are lowest. This schedule's on-peak hours are from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on summer weekdays, except holidays (compared to the six-hour on-peak period of TOU-GS-2).

For more information about this rate schedule, please view:

Rate Schedule GS-2 with Time-of-Use Pricing

The GS-2 Time-of-Use rate schedule is designed for medium- to large-sized commercial and industrial customers, generally with a demand of 200 kW or above. Typical customers include manufacturing and processing firms as well as retail businesses, service stations, schools, larger restaurants, and others. All GS-2 customers who receive a state funded interval meter will automatically be placed on the GS-2 Time-of-Use rate schedule unless they choose another applicable Time-of-Use pricing option, such as TOU-GS-2, within 15 days of meter installation.

TOU-EV-4

This rate is available to business customers who own and operate electric vehicles using chargers with a maximum demand of 500 kW or less. These customers can reduce their electric vehicle charging costs considerably by charging between 9 p.m. and noon. Also, while TOU-EV-4 includes demand charges, they are applied only once: to either the TOU-EV-4 account, or to your normal business account, whichever registers the higher demand.

The Demand Bidding Program (DBP)

SCE’s Demand Bidding Program (DBP) is a year-round, flexible, Internet-based bidding program that offers business customers credits for voluntarily reducing power when a DBP event is called. DBP is for bundled service and Direct Access customers who have at least one service account with a demand of 200 kilowatts (kW) or greater in any 3 months during the preceding 12 months. There are no penalties for submitting a bid and not reducing power. However, you will not receive credit for an event during which power is not reduced. Participants may include aggregated groups of up to 25 service accounts with a combined demand of greater than 200 kW.

If you are already participating in this program, proceed to the sign-on screen.

For more information on the Demand Bidding Program, please read:

Time-of-Use Base Interruptible Program (TOU-BIP)

The Time-of-Use Base Interruptible Program (Schedule TOU-BIP) is open to Southern California Edison (SCE) customers who have monthly demands (or aggregated demands) that reach or exceed 200 kW. Customers or aggregated groups who select this program are required to choose a Firm Service Level (FSL) that reflects the amount of electricity the customer determines is necessary to meet their operational requirements during a TOU-BIP event. They must also choose a participation option, which is the amount of time (15 or 30 minutes) the customer requires in order to respond to a TOU-BIP event. Customers must make a commitment to reduce at least 15% of their maximum demand (but no less than 100 kW) during TOU events.

Critical Peak Pricing (CPP)

Summertime is naturally a period when energy use is at its peak. If your organization can voluntarily reduce some or all of your energy load during a few peak periods in the summer, the Critical Peak Pricing (CPP) rate will compensate you in return, resulting in savings on your electric bills.

CPP offers benefits for shifting or reducing electricity use during critical peak events in the summer season.

Rates for Boat Marinas or Small Craft Harbors

Owners/Operators of privately or publicly owned boat marinas or small craft harbors normally take service from SCE through a single meter under an applicable general service schedule. Such customers are permitted to submeter and bill certain tenants within the boat marinas or small craft harbors for electrical usage. The owner/operator must adhere to the requirements of SCE's Rule 18 when submetering and billing tenants.
