Billing & Payment - Other Payment Options

Business Billing

SCE offers several convenient billing options for customers with more complex accounts. Click on a topic below for more information.

Summary Billing

Whether you have a chain of restaurants, retail stores or manufacturing facilities scattered throughout the SCE territory, you can consolidate all your electric charges on a single bill. This lets you:

  • Pay for all your service accounts with just one monthly payment.
  • Save time and money managing invoices and paperwork.
  • Enjoy improved access to electric consumption information.
  • Compare your energy use at various locations easily and effectively.
  • Increase employee productivity for commercial accounts.

How It Works

With Summary Billing, complete billing details for all your accounts are presented on a single statement sent to the location of your choice. You can elect to receive more than one Summary Billing statement and can track costs by grouping different budget items, departmental activities, types of service, or other billing functions for multiple locations in individual statements.

How to Enroll

Switching to a Summary Billing account is as easy as calling SCE at 1-800-409-2365. And if you're interested in even greater billing efficiency, add Diskette Billing to your Summary Billing plan.

Diskette Billing

Enhance your Summary Billing arrangement with SCE by using Diskette Billing as well. With this service, you receive your billing information on computer disks each month. Each disk contains all of the necessary data for energy analysis and budgeting, eliminating the need for data entry. Diskette Billing lets you:

  • Eliminate manual data entry and shorten energy analysis time from hours to minutes.
  • Easily upload energy-use and pricing information to your accounting system.
  • Analyze energy costs in graphical format.
  • Develop a historical database for trend analysis and budget projections.
  • Reduce paper use and costs.

How It Works

With Diskette Billing, you continue to receive a paper bill unless you request otherwise. You also receive a database of billing information on computer diskette, with as many as 200 service accounts on each diskette. The database can be sorted by:

  • Billing Location
  • Kilowatt-hours used
  • Comparison of monthly use from previous year
  • Bill amount

You can use the information in spreadsheet format for analysis of energy usage. The payment process remains unchanged. SCE will replace any damaged or erased disks at no charge to you. To sign up for Electronic Billing or any of our other billing options, call SCE at (626) 967-8281.

EDI - Electronic Data Interchange

If you can conduct Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and have access to a Value Added Network, you can receive your SCE billing information electronically. You can also pay your bill electronically, thereby eliminating one more paper process for your accounting department. In addition to reducing paperwork and increasing efficiency and productivity, electronic billing enables you to:

  • Access billing and energy-use information more quickly and easily.
  • Perform budget and trend analysis in a historical database with no data entry or paperwork required.
  • Expedite the payment approval process to avoid late payment charges.
  • Upload information directly into accounting systems.
  • Eliminate costly data entry mistakes.
  • Standardize electronic communications with all trading partners.
  • Eliminate bills lost or delayed in the mail.

How It Works

To ensure a smooth transition to EDI Billing, you will work closely with an Edison EDI representative and test selected accounts. Once the testing has been completed to your satisfaction and all aspects of the EDI transactions have been completed you will have a choice of which accounts you want on EDI. These accounts will be added to EDI and the paper bill will cease.

Billing Inserts and other important information normally received with your paper statement can be viewed in our Brochure Library. Because SCE transmits your bill via EDI on the same day that your bill would typically be prepared, you have the information immediately. After reviewing the EDI billing transmissions, your accounting department can make payment using EDI by sending an electronic transmission in the ANSI ASC X12 format known as 820 remittance advice.

How to Enroll

To sign up for electronic billing, please email us through the Email Help Desk. An SCE EDI representative will contact you.

If you are already receiving or paying your SCE bill electronically via EDI, you can obtain more technical information by contacting Carolina Burgess by phone: (626) 967-8281, or e-mail: carolina.burgess@sce.com.
