Leadership Programs

At Southern California Edison, we value diversity at all employee levels. Thus the company offers leadership and mentoring opportunities to its employees by focusing on leadership competencies, including formal and informal mentoring to improve the company's business results. Listed below are a few of our formal leadership courses and programs at SCE.

Coaching for Leaders - Leaders gain the basic foundation to conduct effective coaching with direct reports that aligns with the SCE performance management framework. The course allows leaders to practice and enhance existing skills as well as gain new skills.

Delegating for Results - Managers are increasingly challenged with executing their departmental strategies faster and more effectively, utilizing fewer resources than in previous times. The focus of this course is to help managers assess their team’s capabilities and make intentional decisions about how they select, allocate, assign and follow up stretch assignments and responsibilities within their team.

Recognition Training for Leaders - Leaders explore the benefits of effective employee recognition and what the research reveals about the impact of recognition on employee performance and satisfaction, learn the FAST Recognition model, and practice concrete skills that will enhance their ability and confidence when recognizing their employees back in the workplace.

Situational Leadership - Managers learn a shared process, language, and model for building leadership. It is a program customized to employees’ individual goals and corporate goals. SLII® teaches leaders to do more than just respond to predictable situations through memorized skill application. It teaches leaders to analyze, diagnose, think, and apply leadership concepts effectively in any situation.

New Edison Leadership Development Programs:

Our new Edison Leadership Development Programs provide a leadership experience with a holistic approach that promotes teamwork, cross-collaboration, consistency, and inclusion.

ESSENTIALS - This "nuts and bolts" course is designed to provide practical information and to prepare new supervisors and managers for an array of administrative duties and special situations or circumstances they will encounter in their new role.

SHIFT - This program is designed for new supervisors to enable them to understand their obligations as an SCE leader and coach, create an engaged and empowered team, find their leadership voice, and demonstrate accountability and hold others accountable.

TRANSFORM - This program is designed for new mid-level managers to empower them to exercise leadership judgment, demonstrate strategic decision-making, create leadership presence, manage work through others, coach and develop teams and individuals, collaborate cross-functionally, and deliver results in a rapidly changing environment.

INSPIRE – Coming June, 2012 for new senior-level managers.
